One of our goals for the Manufacturer’s Association is to establish User’s Groups in various areas in order to allow our member companies to network. The members of each User Group would share best practices and benchmark all other companies. It is our intent to establish User’s Groups in areas such as Maintenance, Safety, IT and Lean Manufacturing. The initial User’s Group has been established in the Lean Manufacturing area after training sponsored by the MCMA was completed.
Our Lean Manufacturing User’s Group has been meeting since 2009 and currently consists of seven of the member companies. They meet every other month at a member company. Each member has a lean project that they are working on and they present a status update, listen to any comments or suggestions and set goals for the next meeting. The group concludes with a “Waste Walk” in the host company’s plant and observations and suggestion are made to improve the manufacturing process or work environment. All members are encouraged to participate and reap the benefits of this group.
